FADOS

In his constant investigation of world music, master Carlos Saura proposes a documentary which takes a different look at the most characteristic Portuguese style, far beyond the topical saudade. The director shows an intricate connection between fado and other types of music as apparently distant as flamenco and bossa nova. The film includes an extraordinary roster of musicians, from fadistas Mariza, Carlos do Carmo and Camané to Spaniard Miguel Poveda, Brazilians Caetano Veloso and Chico Buarque and also Mexican Lila Downs.
