THE ART OF LOSING

The author of the most internationally successful Colombian film: the social comedy «La estrategia del caracol,» Sergio Cabrera, ventures into the neo-noir genre with the adaptation of Santiago Gamboa’s novel of the same name. The movie is about a journalist who investigates the discovery of an impaled corpse at the outskirts of Bogotá. Gradually, following the tradition of classic film noir, he will immerse himself in a dirty and corrupt plot involving prostitutes, emerald traders, politicians, and businessmen. Mexican actor Daniel Giménez Cacho takes the lead role, and Hans is the director of photography. The film, produced by Tornasol, was selected for the Montreal Film Festival.

A call from the police isn’t a very remarkable event in the life of journalist Victor Silampa. However, this one in particular will turn out to be extremely disturbing, not only because of the nature of the crime -an impaled corpse on the outskirts of Bogotá- but because in the course of the investigation, his whole life will be unexpectedly turned upside down.
