HOW TO DRAW A PERFECT CIRCLE

A morbid melodrama about a completely dysfunctional family in a decadent Lisbon, mainly focused on the incestuous relationship between two siblings. With multiple references to French culture, from nods to Godard to songs by Leo Ferré and Jacques Brel, this controversial Portuguese production directed by Marco Martins was selected in several festivals, including those in Rio de Janeiro and Lisbon-Estoril; in both, its protagonists, Rafael Morais and Joana de Verona, received awards.

In the last trace of a Lisbon that has long disappeared, two siblings, Guilherme and Sofia, grow up sharing and slowly discovering their sexuality.  Intimate and silent in style, creating a closed claustrophobic universe where everyday situations become at times brutal and cruel, yet infused with a strangely perverse beauty.
