KILLING JESUS

One of the most acclaimed movies in the history of Colombian cinema, “Matar a Jesús” was awarded prizes at prominent international festivals like San Sebastian, Cairo, Cartagena, Chicago, and Palm Springs. The third feature film by director Laura Mora Ortega is a dramatic thriller based on actual facts that recreates the harsh story of a university student who witnesses the murder of her father by a hitman in Medellin. In view of the authorities’ indifference, she decides to seek revenge on her own. With mostly non-professional actors, the filmmaker crafts a raw and intense portrayal, laden with humanism, of the tumultuous society of her country, where everybody is a victim… including the executioners.
